Comperative essay between the books Forbidden City & Cowboy's don't cry

The novel Forbidden City and Cowboy's Don't Cry can be compared easily because they both describe the life of two teenage boys having to face a lot of problems throughout there lives. The similarities and differences between the main characters from the books are having conflicts between themselves, their families and their society.

In the novels Forbidden city and cowboy's don't cry, the similarities and the differences are within the conflicts of themselves. The similarities between Shane and Alex are that they 're both smart academically, and they are very shy. "According to those results, you'll be in the advanced group. Lets go see your new class." said the counsellor about Shane. (cowboy's don't cry p.14). "Mr. Bronwski, who likes me because I'm a history nut like him let me go with an A..." said Alex (Forbidden City p.10). The differences between these two characters are that they both moved to new places but however, Alex was more of an outsider because he moved to a different culture. In the other hand, Shane was still taking part of the same culture. Alex had to disguise him self to fit in the culture because he was so different than everyone else.

Secondly, the differences between the novels is the conflict between the characters and their families. The similarities they had in common are that both parents are attached to their career work. "He works for the CBC and he's won a couple of awards..."said Alex about hos dad. (Forbidden City p.3). Another similarity is that they don't live with they're mothers. The differences between then are : Shane was not close to his dad because he was an alcoholic. Alex was pretty close with his dad. "I just felt embarrass and scared of my mind the way I'm always when i know dad's been drinking" (Cowboy's Don't Cry p.2). This quote shows that Shane does not trust his dad and that makes their relationship to be further damaged.

Finally, the similarities and differences between the two main characters conflict is the society. The differences that both characters share in common are that Shane was being bullied at school Alex did not when he went to school in Beijing, China. " well, the kid sure ain't as though as his old man, is he ?" (Cowboy's Don't Cry p. ) said one of the kids from his school. They were trying to make him join their group. Another difference, people from Beijing were starring at Alex because he was different as in race color etc... The similarities that they both had in common was that they both got injured due to not being careful and the lack of protection. Alex was wounded by a gunshot while trying to escape from a political war in Beijing, China. Shane got injured on his motorcycle by trying to escape from dad. However, both characters delt with their life threatening injuries. "I thought almost calmly, and in that split second, I heard a sickening thump..." (Cowboy's Don't Cry p.108). This was the instant Shane got knocked off his bike by the car. " My friend is a medical student. he fixed your leg when you were shot " (Forbidden City p.173). After Alex got shot a couple of Chinese friends of Xin-Hua helped fixed his leg. Those were a couple of conflicts that they both shared. They both were brave enough to get through their pain and becoming a better human being.

In conclusion, the two novels Forbidden City and Cowboy's Don't Cry shared some differences and similarities about the struggles of teenagers to face challenges and mature. The novels show how these two teenagers become better people by overcoming challenges from the past and how to deal with family problems. Also both characters faced life threatening situation where they become more mature and resolve the problems in their lives (Family, society and themselves).

How helpful blogger is

In my opinion, I think bloggers is really helpful to me. This is my first time using it and I think it's very good in terms of getting to be creative, gave alot of new ideas ex: helping your community, organizing programs for the new student and parent in the country. I gfot to be very creative with my blog.I got to describe my opinions better because I can keep describing something until I'm tired. There is no limit to it. so i would recomend anyone to make there own blog, be creative and most importantly, have fun.

-I liked both actually, but I mostly read books because it helps you in your academics and for the fun of it.

2) Do you rather go to the movies or a restaurant on a first date ?

-I rather go to a restaurant because it is more suitable for a first date in order to get to know the person that you are out with.

3) Fame or fortune ?

-I like both because I don't want to be recognize as the person who has a lot of money but not a lot of people really know me.

4) What is your favorite desert ?

-My favorite desert is baileys because it is very good after any kind of dish.

5) What is your favorite sport ?

-My favorite sport is football. I got that from my son. He's pretty good.

6)What was your favorite subject in high school ?

-My favorite back in high school was Mathematics.

7) If you had to leave Canada, where would you go ?

-I would go some were were it's hot, in the south like Florida in the U.S.

8) Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama ?

-Obviously Barack Obama. No question about it.

9) What do you do in your free time ?

-In my free time i read, Listen to music and spent time with my family.

-My favorite dish is rice with mushroom. It is an Exotic dish in Haiti.

The Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a football team in the NFL, they are from Jacksonville, Florida. They are my favorite team because they are very emotional on the gridiron, they have one of my favorite runingbacks : Maurice Jones-Drew. The jags are very physical and when they play, they leave nothing on the field. The go a 110% for a full 60 minutes game. This season they played pretty good. the whole year they play 16 games, they won 11 out of 16 so that was a big accomplishement for them. They went to the playoffs. they played pittsburg a team they beat in the regular season. It was not easy but when ot was the moment for them to come as a team they did and they won the game. The week after they got to play the best of the best, the New England Patriots. They new it was going to be a battle. They fought there hearts out but they lost but the most important thing is that they stuck together. Maurice Jones -Drew is my favorite football player because he is a good role model on and off the football field, he cares about his teammates, his coaching staff and people around him. They are amazing.

American Gangster movie review

American Gangster is a movie played by one of my favorite actors, Denzel Wanshington. The movie is based on a true story who took place in New York in the 1970's. The movie is about a man who owned a cocaine business. Frank Lucas which is played by Denzel was close to the business owner "Bumpy" Johnson which is played by Laurence Fishburne. So after Russel died of heart attack, Frank took over the drug bisiness. In order to keep the business running, he need better product and a new brand name so he imported cocaine in the country illegaly by american army and named the brand "blue magic". He made good money out of it. But cops were suspecious. so they decided to have an investigation. Lucas got cought. he was sentenced to jail a life time but the cop who followed with the investigation became a lawer and got Frank Lucas out of jail after fifeteen year in jail. He got out and back to his normal life.

Notre Dame High School on helping the community

In my opinion, on way that Notre Dame high school could help our ESL student and their families is by organising a couple meting with the parent every year before the schoolyear to get to know them make them fell welcome, show how the school system works, how to help their kids to gt a good throughout the year. During the shool we can setup another meeting so we can keep in touch and keep giving them advices on how to get their child focus on their goals. During the summer, the school board can oganize a community activity for them in oder to get to know eah other. One of the ativities could cleaning a park etc... The reason why I pick this activy is because it gets the parents to work with each other and get them as a community.

At my house I eat whatever my mom kooks which is my culture food. I lsten to alot of different kinf of music. It could be rap, r&b, soft rock etc... I'm not a big fan of country music. I rarely go to the movies. Unless one of my favorite actor is in the movie. I saw "AMERICAN GANGSTER". It was s great movie. Denzel Washington is very sensational at what he does.
